Mac had earlier revealed that there was someone she worked with in Darfur, Africa, and their year-long relationship was "serious, but didn't work out" - and it turned out to be Raul. After Billy reluctantly gave them his blessing, Raul asked Mac to marry him and return to Washington DC with him, and she said yes. But the more time Mac spent with Billy, the more she doubted her future with Raul.

Billy and Mac were about to make love when Chloe interrupted with the news that the paternity test on Sharon's baby was about to come back. But Mac realized this happened when they were not together, and after seeing Billy talking to God about saving Summer for him despite all his sins, she decided he was still the man she loved.
Sharon got the paternity test results back and was ecstatic that she and Nick are expecting the daughter Faith that Cassie predicted on her death bed and in Nick's dream. But after seeing Nick so distraught over his daughter Summer being in a coma, she realized that he needed to be there for Summer and Phyllis, and not run off with her like he did over Cassie, so she told everyone her baby was Jack's.
Cane sold Jimmy's Bar to Mackenzie when he decided to leave town. But when Mac heard that Lily was in the hospital with ovarian cancer, and about to undergo surgery, she tracked down Cane, persuaded him not to leave town, and stashed him in Murphy's trailer home that Billy had just bought as a rendezvous for them. Victor called a press conference and named Mary Jane Benson as the person who hurt his grand daughter, so the entire city was looking for her. Mary Jane was discovered by Mac in an alley, and she befriended her thinking she was just a homeless person, giving her food, blankets and a place to stay in the back room at her bar.
Meanwhile, Jack and Paul banded together to find her themselves. JT discovered through Mac that she had been hiding out at her bar, stolen from her and disappeared, leaving a note that claimed Victor knew all about Mary Jane. After Mac admitted to Chloe that she and Billy were now together, Chloe got a divorce started, and Chance felt free to date Chloe. But when they met to sign the divorce papers, Billy started remembering the good times in the past, and backed out making excuses.
So Chloe decided to use Chance to make Billy jealous and stay with her and Delia. Billy went back and signed the next day, but Chloe never did and they remained legally married, though separated.
But after Chance was stabbed trying to stop a robber, Chloe realized how much she really cared and signed the divorce papers. Mac wanted to help Lily and Cane by being a surrogate mother for them, but Billy refused to let her do it. Billy was not happy when Mackenzie volunteered and began looking into the legal ramifications with Michael Baldwin. Mac got a physical, and told Cane she was ready no matter what Billy does not want her to do.
Mac and Billy broke up, and Mac became pregnant with Cane and Lily's child, which turned out to be twins. Billy's life was spiraling downward again into drunkenness as he watched Chance take his place with Chloe and his daughter Delia, and after losing the love of his life, Mac. Then an end-of visit from his dead father John, showing him what the future would be like with Billy dead if he kept this up, began to turn Billy around.
But when it was time for Cane to be deported, she broke down and told Cane the truth, so of course he escaped. A sonogram confirmed that the twins Mac was carrying were boy and girl. Instead Lily left for Europe with Olivia to try an experimental procedure, without Cane who would not be allowed back in if he left the country. Cane then decided to sue Mac for the right to take the placenta fluid against their wishes.

Mariah assured Sharon that she wasn't scared of Victor, but she cautioned that Victor was still interested in Sharon's secret.
Sharon revealed that something had happened that had made her feel like she was getting closer to uncovering it.
Sharon explained that she'd had some confusing thoughts and images, and she'd experienced some vague feelings of guilt when she'd pulled out a certain shade of lipstick and again when she'd seen Jack and Nick with Summer at the wedding. Mariah wondered why Sharon would feel guilty, and Sharon intended to have her psychiatrist help analyze what had happened.
Sharon theorized that she'd felt guilty watching Phyllis' daughter get married when Phyllis hadn't been able to be there. On the porch, Victor was flabbergasted that neither Jack nor Nick had stopped the ceremony, but Nick refused to control the lives of his loved ones, and he asked why Victor was there. Victor inquired whether Nick had learned anything from Mariah about Ian, and Nick said that it was obvious Mariah had a close relationship with Ian.
Victor relayed that Mariah had said Ian was happy about the living arrangements, and he imagined that Ian had a vested interest in Mariah getting close to Sharon. Victor mentioned that Ian had claimed to have information that was important to the Newman family, and he had thought it had been about Dylan's paternity, but Ian could have meant something else. Victor promised that he'd let Nick know as soon as he found out what it was. Later, Sharon flashed back to the contents of her purse falling down the stairs and then to Summer walking down the aisle.
Mariah said that she'd meet Nick in the car, and she headed out. Sharon realized that Nick was giving Mariah a ride to work, and Nick asked if Sharon was okay, since she'd seemed unsettled earlier. Sharon insisted that she was fine, and she kissed him goodbye.
Once alone, Sharon spotted the traffic ticket, and she shook her head. She sat down at her laptop and looked at the article about Phyllis' tragedy on the night of the benefit. In his office, Victor looked through some paperwork, and he asked his assistant to find a phone number for a certain doctor.
Victor perused an article about "awakening hope for coma patients. Kelly declared that she was proud of him, and Jack wondered which one of his bonehead moves had made her swell with pride. She pointed out that he'd given his daughter what she'd needed the most -- his unconditional love. They kissed, and Jack praised Kelly for giving great advice and for standing by him when he'd needed it the most.
He realized that it had been little more than a year since he'd found out that he was Summer's father. Kelly sniffed a bottle of perfume, and Jack returned with cookies from the vending machine in lieu of wedding cake. He noticed the smell of perfume, and she mentioned that she knew it had been named after Phyllis. Kelly was sure that Jack had been thinking about Phyllis more than usual that day, and Jack suspected that there wouldn't have been a wedding if Phyllis had been present, since Phyllis had gone to great extremes to ensure that Summer had stayed away from the wrong guys in the past.
Kelly replied that Summer was an adult, and adults had to learn from their mistakes.
Jack offered to find some milk to go with the cookies, but Kelly said she didn't need it. He realized that he didn't have a good picture of her, and he took one on his phone as she munched on a cookie.
He said that it would remind him of her when she wasn't around, but he assured her that there wasn't a chance he'd forget her. Jack mused that he loved getting to know Kelly, and she said that the sentiment went both ways.

She added that they still had a lot to learn about one another, and Jack wanted to take the time to do it, since the more he knew, the more he liked. Neil accused Cane of vacillating between supporting Neil's choices and questioning them, and he implored Cane just to say whatever he wanted to say.
Cane hesitantly asked if Neil was sure about what Hilary really wanted, and Neil countered that it was Hilary's dream to have a house. Cane replied that he hadn't been talking about the house. Cane worried that Neil and Hilary were getting settled too fast, but Neil argued that they wouldn't have gotten married if that had been the case. Cane questioned whether Hilary was ready for the responsibility of maintaining a home, since she had always wanted a career.
Neil scoffed at the idea that he was locking her up and throwing away the key, but Cane wondered why Neil wanted to move that fast.
Neil suspected that Cane thought Neil was overcompensating because Hilary was significantly younger, but he insisted that the house was about Hilary's longing for stability, and he envisioned it as a place that could be theirs together. Cane was skeptical about why Neil hadn't included Hilary in the house-hunting process, and Neil contended that the home Hilary had never had before would be his gift to her. Cane pointed out that Neil hadn't even discussed the idea with her, and Neil snapped that he hadn't asked for advice, and he knew exactly what he was doing by planning for his future with his wife.
Lily approached and grumbled that there was no escaping Hilary, and Neil asked if she'd seen Hilary. Lily replied that she'd seen Hilary and Devon leave together. Lily claimed that the laundry room had misplaced Hilary's clothes after Hilary had slipped into the pool, but Neil questioned the accuracy of the terms Lily was using. Lily said that Hilary and Devon had gone to look for the clothes, and Neil commented that Devon had been helpful, since Neil hadn't wanted his surprise to be ruined by Hilary seeing the house.
Acceptance is a learned skill that gets better with practice. But, let's not talk about them, let's talk about us. Is there really an 'us'?
And I think I'm going to enjoy the journey, finding out where 'us' goes. Are you ready for this?
Just been waiting for you to be ready. Billy is sitting close to Chelsea, his arm draped across her chair, smiling and joking with her, but out of the corner of his eye, he sees Stitch kiss Victoria.
Billy feels a slight tightness in his stomach at the kiss and is surprised at his reaction, but he decides to not dwell on it, at least, not now.
Chelsea doesn't see it and smiles back at Billy, laughing, sipping her champagne. Billy tells Chelsea another joke and she laughs and kisses him.
Time goes by quickly, Billy and Chelsea dance to the music provided by the orchestra, enjoying themselves. Victoria and Stitch dance, but she is starting to feel a little tired, one of the results of being a new mother. Ready to go home? What time is it?
Thirty more minutes to go. And you do remember you promised Billy a dance, right? He may have forgotten. I'll be right back. Billy takes Victoria by the hand and as the orchestra starts to play, he wraps his other arm around her waist, holding her close. Victoria is hesitant at first, but then relaxes and drapes her arm around his neck. They haven't been this close in a while, but it feels familiar. Billy leans back to look at her face, and is once again struck by her beauty. We're not going to go into small talk, are we?
I mean we were never good at that. I will ask one thing, though. And I think that goes under the heading of small talk. Let's just stop now, before we start talking about the weather. They continue their banter, smiling at each other, making tiny references to past events, things that only the two of them share. Victoria laughs and responds, without thinking, "No, there's no room in there, or haven't you noticed? Billy looks and smiles appreciatively. It looks good on you.
And, we know each other to well for you to even think about filtering your conversation with me. I know how that freakish little mind of yours works. You're with Chelsea and I'm with Stitch. Our hearts are with them now. Stitch has your heart? As much as Chelsea has yours. We're getting along so much better. All the hurt and anger is gone and we are both in a better place.
Let's just leave it at that. It's the two of them, Billy still holding her with one arm around her waist, his other hand holding her hand close to his heart, while Victoria still has her arm around his neck.
Before they can move, another song begins. A young songstress begins to sing an old favorite, her rendition of Sarah Vaughn's classic love song, "At Last". Victoria tries to leave and return to her table, but Billy stops her. It is NYE and to not have seen you would have left me feeling that something was missing, and that would have been you and me on NYE, together, if only for a moment. Stitch and Chelsea have their dance and watch the interplay between Billy and Victoria.
Stitch takes Chelsea back to her table, but doesn't leave her alone, he stays and waits. Neither has missed the easiness, the way Billy and Victoria hold each other and smile or the fact that they were still dancing after the music stopped and another song started.
