We saw some great team battles, and some blazing fast performances as well. Valpo took a long road trip to race at the Wildcat Classic, and West Lafayette kept their top runners out of the Ben Davis Invitational. Drake Sterling With 7 ranked boys teams in the AA division, this race should provide a lot of excitement. It will be our first legitimate chance to see if anyone is capable to taking down 2 Carmel, and thus, thrusting themselves into the conversation for a State Championship.
Ryan Nephew and Fergus Arthur had especially strong runs. Starting July 23rd and counting down from there and into mid-August, we will release one boy and one girl per day. Preseason cross country…around the State, teams are logging hundreds of miles preparing for what they hope to be their most successful season in memory. The three-day meet begins Friday at 11 a. As we enter the post-season with Girls Sectionals on Tuesday, May 20th and boys the following Thursday, the top 25 performance lists are beginning to reflect those who will be competing in Bloomington just about 3 weeks from now.
Under his guidance, his CC teams have had 47 invitational wins and 46 invitational runner-ups. His boys teams have qualified for the State meet 7 times and his girls teams four times. Willie Wiley in and Kim Malarkey in were State runner-ups. The girls placed second in and third in Coach Clark has also had 51 State CC qualifiers. He has had 52 individual State track qualifiers. Besides his coaching, Clark has helped the sport in other ways. He proposed the State CC poll in and has coordinated it ever since.
In and this deserving man organized an unofficial girls State meet to promote girls cross country. A 30 year coach, his last 23 at Zanesville High School, Wayne enjoyed an enviable record of success.
Under his guidance, Zanesville won 22 League and District titles in track and a n- other 16 League and District titles in cross country.
His teams also went on to win Regional Runner -up and Regional Championship trophies. Whether as a decorated Army veteran of the Vietnam War, or as a official at the Atlanta Olympiad, Wayne Clark continues to represent Ohio on a national level that makes all of us who know him, proud to call him friend.
Clark served as manager for the Ohio team at both meets.

Won two state meet titles and was runnerup three times. Coached 13 individual state meet winners. Has coached cross country at Alliance since Won the state high school track meet in and tied for first in Has won four league track and three league cross country meets in four years of league participation. Has coached six individuals who have won state high school track meet events, and one individual who won the state high school cross country meet.
Bob was a District representative, served on the coaching staff for the Ohio Team at the Midwest Meet of Champions for six years. Also he was the head coach for one year, Her was the Association President for Won one boys state cross country championship. Won one district and conference track meets. Coached one individual state cross country champions. Was the three time state meet champion in the pole vault in, and Finished second in National Junior Olympics. Lincoln Cobb They say that when Albert Einstein died, he was still trying to figure out gravity.
Despite this lack of facilities, Lincoln won the State Champion title in the long jump as a sophomore and then came back to repeat as State Champion as a junior. Also in his junior year, Lincoln qualified to the State Meet in the M and M events where he qualified to the finals and finished third in both events earning Pettisville a 3rd place team finish and just missing the podium.
Not bad for a kid with no track. What if he had the advantage that so many others take for granted? At the end of the day, Lincoln had won the long jump for a third time, added another state title in the M, taken second in the M, scored 28 points, and won the State Championship team trophy for Pettisville.
Lincoln now lives in Mason, Ohio. Won two district and nine league championships. Coached two individual State High School track Meet winners. The Badgers have qualified to the Regional Meet 51 times with four of those winning Regional Championships and twelve winning Runner-up titles. There have been 47 individual state qualifiers, 16 of whom have earned All-Ohio honors.
In track, the success has been the same. Twenty-six league championships have been followed up by 14 District Championships and 13 District Runner-up titles. The Badgers have won one Regional Meet and they have been Runners-up on five other occasions.
Individually, 90 individuals have qualified to the State Meet and Berkshire relays have qualified 42 times. Three State Champion relays and four State Runner-up relays round out an impressive resume of State Championship performances.
She continues to coach at Berkshire and lives in Chardon, Ohio. Collins was the State Champion in in both the discus and the shot.
